Michael Lawrence Yerkovich

January 10, 1961 — March 25, 2019

Michael Lawrence Yerkovich passed away peacefully on March 25, 2019 at his home in Rock Springs after a lengthy illness. Mike was born on January 10, 1961 to John and Mary Ann Yerkovich in Rock Springs, WY. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Michael attended schools in Rock Springs. He played football, basketball, and baseball for the Catholic Church leagues in his youth. He is a member of SCM Catholic Parrish. Michael married Leigh Ann Tonn on March 4, 1988. They had two beautiful children together, Luke and Abigail. Although they later divorced, both remained focused on raising their children and stayed close throughout the years. Leigh Ann was even known to make random ‘house calls’ to make sure Mike was taking his medication during his recent health battles. Mike loved living in Rock Springs and though he moved to Rawlins, Casper, and eventually Onalaska, WI, he always had a desire to come back home. He loved rock hunting in southwestern Wyoming. He also enjoyed boating and fishing on the gorge with his children, brother in law Ricky Scott, and nephew Kevin Yerkovich. Everyone has many wonderful memories of adventures with him. One of his most well-known loves was that of the Green Bay Packers. Spending time rooting on the Packers with his son, Luke, was one of the best in his opinion, even if their cheers would scare the neighbors at times. Whenever his daughter Abby visited from the Midwest, they both were known to venture down to Hooligans for their favorite caffeine infused drinks. Mike was known to have an infectious smile and chuckle. He will be forever remembered as being a proud father, and will be eternally missed by his family and friends. His children will always remain proud of the caring man their father was, and take pride in the fact that Mike lived to see them both flourish. Mike was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Ann Yerkovich, nephew Jason Crompton, friend Mike Wiggins, brother in-law Mike Tonn, nephew Garret Saunders, amongst many other friends and loved ones. Mike is survived by his children; Luke Yerkovich (girlfriend Lindsay Malicoate) of Rock Springs and Abigail Yerkovich of Minneapolis, MN; brothers John Yerkovich (wife Becky) and Tony Yerkovich (wife Amy) both of Rock Springs; sisters Lisa Yerkovich (husband Brad Betebenner) of Salt Lake City, UT and Therese Yerkovich (husband Bill Weeks) of Rock Springs; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. As aforementioned, Leigh Ann Yerkovich and partner Jimmy Campbell, and the entire Campbell family, remained supportive of Michael to the very end. Services will be held at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church on Saturday March 30th, 2019 at 11 A.M. with a luncheon held at the Parish Center afterwards. Friends and family of Michael are encouraged to attend to remember the man that he was. All donations in lieu of flowers should be directed to Holy Spirit Catholic Community Church.
