Donald Rushing

Donald L. Rushing,77, of Green River died Sunday October 31, 2004 at his home in Green River. Donald was born June 2, 1927 in Chandler, Arizona the son of James Calvin Clayton and Alie May Saunders Rushing. He attended schools in Springer, Oklahoma. On October 27, 1972 he married Sheri Lynn Shepard in Evanston, Wyoming. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Marine Corp. and the Korean War serving in the Merchant Marines. He was employed as a Ironworker retiring after 57 years. He was a member of Ironworkers Union Local 27. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. His interest included rock hunting, fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, and his grandkids. Donald was the oldest active Ironworkers in the U.S. Survivors include his wife Sheri Lynn Rushing of Green River; two sons, Donald Lee Rushing Jr. and wife Nichole of Riverton, Utah, Darin Ray Rushing and wife Susan of Ogden, Utah; seven daughters, Jeannie Rushing of Salt Lake City, Utah, Pamala Redmond and husband Max of Duchesne , Utah, Susan Rushing of Salt Lake City, Utah, Tami Anderson and husband Les of Denver, Colorado, Mary Dawn Dovell and husband Doug of Canton, Georgia, Hollie Rushing of New York City, New York, and Heidi Rushing of San Diego, California; two sisters, Donna Erwin and husband Vern of Modesto, California, and Anita Schneider of Oregon; Mother-in-law, Darlene Shepard; twenty-two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Rushing, Robert Rushing, Stan Rushing, father-in-law Cecil Shepard, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday November 4, 2004 at the Green River LDS Chapel, 1000 W. 400 N., Green River where friends may call one hour prior to services.
