Eldon “ Jay” Humpherys Rock Springs - Eldon “Jay” Humpherys, 76, of Ashton, Idaho, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. He was a former resident of Rock Springs and returned a short time ago. He was born January 19, 1939 in Afton, Wyoming, the son of James Donald Humpherys and Lois Belle West Humpherys. He attended schools in Richmond, Utah and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond with the class of 1957. He married Sharon Ann Bundy Santiamo November 22, 1982 in Grants Pass, Oregon. They lived in Baker City, Oregon for a short time before moving to Rock Springs. They were divorced in 1992. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many positions including Wark Clerk, leader in the young men’s/young women’s program, and the Primary Children’s program. His interests were music, the outdoors and classic cars, being a “jack of all trades” fixing things and had a few occupations such as a long-time electrician, maintenance specialist and security professional. He had most recently worked in the maintenance department at Wal-Mart. Survivors include his former wife Sharon Ann of Rock Springs; son Jonathan Michael (John Jay) Humpherys; daughters Tomlyn Teresa of Utah, Taryna Jolyn Goodman of Hagerman, Idaho, Tamyra Joyce Nicholas of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Trina Ann Brittain of Rock Springs; stepson Kelsey Dennis of Rock Springs; brothers Merlin Arden of Smithfield, Utah, Eugene Donald of Quartz Hill California, Floyd Elwin of Salt Lake City, and Delton LaRue of Arco, Idaho; sisters Marilyn Creger of Lewiston, Utah, and Kathleen Johnson of Deming, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Naomi Brown and brother Joseph LeRoy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Rock Springs LDS Stake Center, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
