Harold Jean Brown

Rock Springs – Harold Jean Brown, 83, died Sunday August 22, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital, Salt Lake City. Harold was born December 29, 1920 in Cullison, Kansas the son of Curles M. and Edna Belle Tutle Brown. He attended schools in Cullison, Kansas. He came to Rock Springs in 1937, where he worked in the coal mines and at Bennion Motor. Later he was co owner of the Modern Auto Clinic until his retirement in 1982. On February 7, 1941 he married Hazel Robertson in Soda Springs, Idaho. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a ball turret gunner. He had been a P.O.W. of the German Government for fifteen months. Harold was is a member of the Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Senior Citizens Young at Heart. His interests included golfing and pool. Survivors include his wife Hazel of Rock Springs; two sons, Garry Brown and wife Peggy, Robert Brown and wife Carol all of Rock Springs; one daughter, Patty Simkins and husband Curtis of Rock Springs; six grandchildren, Colleen Meduna, Valerie Anderson, Jason Brown, Sean Simkins, Heather Lapp, and Nancy Brown all of Rock Springs; ten great-grandchildren, Josh Meduna, Chase Meduna, Abby Meduna, Christopher Anderson, Kalen Anderson, Nina Anderson, Hannah M. Anderson, Baylee Lapp, Paden Lapp, and Braden Simkins all of Rock Springs; one brother Bill Brown and wife Grace of Johnson, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother Nellie Brown; three sisters, Doris Masengill, Daisy Staats, and Alma Metts; four brothers, Nolan Brown, Avery “Buck” Brown, Claude Brown, and Charles Brown; and one daugther-in-law, Marcellene Brown. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 26, 2004 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs where frends may call 12-8 p.m. Wednesday August 25, 2004. Rev. Susan Pierce officiating. Interment will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs. The family will be receiving guests at the home of Curtis and Patty Simkins, 2601 Popo Agie Dr., Rock Springs.
