John C Schrepfer III

John C. Schrepfer III, of Green River, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on April 17h, 2026, at Mission at Castle Rock.

He was born January 12, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, to John C. Schrepfer II and Oleita Frazier Schrepfer, of Independence, Missouri.

John graduated in 1967 from Meeker High School in Meeker, Colorado, and attended Rangely Junior College District in Rangely, Colorado for 2 years.

He married Nelda J. Simmons in Brighton, Colorado on June 29, 1974. They moved to Green River in 1975 to make their home and raise their 3 children from her previous marriage.

John worked for General Chemical for 29 years, retiring in 2004. He had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sweetwater Aerie #2350, and the Green River Lions Club, where he presided as President 1989 - 1990.

John was Papa to 6 grandchildren; Correy, Courtney, Bobbie Lea, Sarah, Jonathan & Serena; and 11 great grandchildren; Ava, Kosta. A.J.. Alastair, Aria, Finn, Hadley Jane, Archey, Patrick, Alexia & Ariyah.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, gardening, and refinishing furniture, which he often found at the garage sale expeditions he and Nelda enjoyed. That beautiful furniture graces several homes.

John is survived by his son Stuart Simmons of Reliance, and his 2 daughters, Sarina McCord and Melissa Simmons of Green River; brother Kurt (Gayle) Schrepfer of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Shirley (Dave) Harmon of Yellville, Arkansas; sister Yvonne Schrepfer of Rock Springs; and sister Pat Harrington of Independence, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nelda, and sister Goldie Schnakenberg.

As per his request, there will be no services. Cremation will take place.
