Leroy Gomez Rock Springs – Leroy Gomez, 56, lifetime resident of Rock Springs died Friday November 7, 2003 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, Rock Springs following health problems during the past three years. Leroy was born May 11, 1947 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado the son of Abel and Eloisa Gomez. He attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1965. Leroy served in the US Navy during Vietnam War on the USS Hancock. On July 17, 1970 he married Fidelas Salazar in Rock Springs. He was employed at Jim Bridger Plant for twenty-eight years retiring in 2000 due to health reasons. He was a member of the Catholic Church. His interest included fishing, hunting, football, and he was a fan of the Wyoming Cowboys. Survivors include his wife Fidelas, two daughters, Lisa Gomez of Denver, Colorado, and Lori Feagler and husband Dale of Rock Springs; one son, Matthew Gomez of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Corina Bautista and husband Si of Wenachee, Washington; seven brothers, Reynold Gomez and wife Teresa of Denver, Colorado, Tony Gomez and Joe Gomez both of Rock Springs, Abel Gomez and wife Leslie of College Station, Texas, David Gomez and Ben Gomez both of Rock Springs, and Gordie Gomez of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one granddaughter Audrey of Rock Springs; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 11, 2003 at the SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave, Rock Springs. Friends and family may call 12-5 p.m. Monday November 10, 2003 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way and again 6-8 p.m. at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church where a Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Military honors and interment will take place at Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
