Mary Ellen Cox, 91, passed away peacefully at Sweetwater Memorial Hospital on August 31, 2022. She was born on January 18, 1931 in Rock Springs, Wy. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and aunt to everyone that was blessed enough to call her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gene Cox, and all three of her sons, Mark Cox, Mickey Cox, and Bobby Cox, her sister Frieda Turley, and her brother Lars Larson. She is survived by her niece Cindy and her husband Randy Levitt, Daughter in law Peggy Cox, her grandchildren BJ and Dillon Cox, Bryan and Jammie Cox, and Chelsie Cowgill, along with several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for spending time at their old cabin in the Upper Green, fishing, and mastering every form of arts and crafts imaginable. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing wither husband Gene, “the world’s best dancer”, as she would often say.
She led by example and raised her family with wisdom, strong convictions and morals, and taught us all how to prevail through adversity, and love with all our hearts. We will miss her dearly, but find comfort knowing that she is finally able to dance with Gene again.
Mary Ellen did not want any services to be held, just asked simply that her ashes be spread among those of her husband and sons.
