Randy Jay Nelsen was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 28, 1952, to Jay O. and Ruth C. Nelsen. He grew up alongside his siblings Barbara Woods, Daryl Woods (Tom), and his late sisters Kathleen Nelsen and Jolene Archuleta.
Randy graduated from Weber County Adult Education in 1971. That same year, he married Pamela Stitt on May 7, 1971, and the two later reaffirmed their commitment to one another on October 31, 1988.
In 1972, Randy enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country faithfully until 1974.
Following his military service, Randy began a long and steady career as a Boiler Operator with FMC Corporation and retired after an impressive 39 years of service.
Randy and Pam made their home in Green River, Wyoming, where they raised their three children - Robert (wife Ruth), Jon (deceased), and Jennifer. They were also blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Randy was a man of many talents. He was a gifted carpenter; he could build or repair just about anything.
He loved to stay active and adventurous, spending his free time racing cars, skiing, riding motorcycles, backpacking, canoeing, hunting, fishing, tying flies, bowling, golfing, and off-roading. He once played Little League baseball as a catcher and coached softball in Green River.
When he wasn't outdoors, Randy enjoyed reading, especially books about history and ancient civilizations, and building and painting model cars with remarkable attention to detail.
Randy was known for his willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed help - whether fixing something broken or offering advice.
Graveside services and inurnment took place in the Riverview Cemetery.
