Robert Vernon Hunter

Robert Vernon Hunter Green River - Robert Vernon Hunter passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at his home on Friday, October 4, 2019 following a lengthy battle with heart disease and kidney failure. He was born March 28, 1950, in Price, Utah the son of Robert Dale and Ella Dean Hunter. He spent his early years in East Carbon, Utah before his family relocated to Carlsbad, NM. He was a 1968 graduate of Carlsbad High School. Robert served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in Argentina, loving every moment of serving with the people of that country. He attended the University of Utah and received a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. That was also where he met his future wife, JaNell Page. They were married in the Provo Utah Temple on June 10, 1975, and upon graduation from the University, they moved to Green River, Wyoming, where Robert resided until his death. To their union were born four children. Robert worked as a mining engineer for Allied Chemical, Rhone Poulenc and most recently FMC. He was a devoted employee and an even more devoted husband and father. He served faithfully in his church, serving in many capacities including Bishop's counselor, Bishop, High Councilman and as a Stake Patriarch. His testimony was unwavering and his love for the Lord was an example to all who knew him. Robert was taught by his father at an early age to appreciate the beauties of the outdoors and developed a great love for camping and hunting and fishing. His favorite place to be was the family cabin in southeast Wyoming. He was blessed to have made a visit there labor Day weekend. Robert is survived by his wife, JaNell; his children Jamie (Thiess) Lindsay, Kelly (Marc) Green, Erin (Kenny) Druce and Rob (Breanne) Hunter; his sisters, Ramona (Jimmy) Holt, Annette (Barry) Evans; brother Randy Hunter; four grandsons, seven granddaughters, three aunts, three uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins plus his many dearly loved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carolyn Marie. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1000 W 4th N, Green River, WY. A viewing will be held 6-8 pm Friday, October 11, 2019 and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Green River. Family would appreciate memorials to be made to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County dialysis unit in gratitude for the many years of the excellent and loving care Robert received there. I am very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I enjoyed time spent visiting and working with Bob during his time at Allied Chemical. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. Rest in Peace Bob.

My most sincere condolences. I remember coaching together with Bob a little league baseball team (Erin and Nathaniel). The team didn't do great, but the experience was fun and I think the kids learned a lot from Bob. We both served on the high council together. We served as Bishops at the same time, attending many a training meeting together. I was always appreciative of the counsel and advice Bob would share with all the Bishoprics at those meetings. We both sang in stake choirs and in a couple of performances (in different years) of the Messiah. When Nicole led the choir for the Messiah concert Bob was very helpful to her in general, aiding with logistical concerns, etc. Nicole asked that we pass along her love and thanks to him for his service. Bob always asked after my children when we visited. He was very thoughtful and kind. I always knew he was serving the Lord in whatever he did. He always smiled, even when it hurt. Thank you for sharing Bob with us. I will miss him. Love, Wade Nelson

I was very, very saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I have many fond memories of our "discussions" when we were both at FMC. He was a great guy and I feel truly blessed to have known him. Rest in peace, Bob!!

Robert was my friend, classmate of 1968, teammate, who invited us to his dances and functions from his church. Many great memories we had back then. Many people were glad to see him at our 45th reunion in spite of his health he made it and were really happy to see and talk to him and Janelle. I am glad I was able to speak with him a couple of weeks ago . I will miss my friend but will see you again. Don't let the snow snakes get you. Love you Robert.
