Rock Springs - Steven Ward, 72, of Rock Springs died Monday, December 8, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 27, 1942 in Yreka, California, the son of Harry Samual Ward and Mary Louise Holzhauser Ward.
He attended schools in Yreka and graduated from Yreka High School with the class of 1960. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
He married Constance “Koni” Brewer in 1967 in Carson City, Nevada.
He worked for Bridger Coal for 23 years retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, NRA, and a volunteer fireman in Rock Springs.
He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His interests were hunting, fishing, the Wyoming outdoors, guns, traveling around the state, making conversations with friends, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Koni Ward of Rock Springs; sons Dallas Keith Ward and wife Christine of Rock Springs, and Brett Ward of Seattle; daughters Steffani Akae Gatley and husband Christopher of San Marcos, California, and Libby Ward of Laramie; sister Linda Morton of Yreka; grandchildren Kevon Ward, Eric Ward, and Siona Gatley; 2 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mary Ward.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
